(Richmond, CA)—September 7, 2005—Mechanics Bank today announced the appointment of Linda Morris, a longtime Benicia resident and well-known East Bay banker, as Manager of its Concord office, scheduled to open September 19.

Ms. Morris began her banking career thirty years ago, with Security Pacific Bank. She joined Union Bank in 1995, and managed the Danville office, before transferring to the Walnut Creek office as vice president and manager in 1999.

“It’s a privilege to work where your customers are also your friends and neighbors,” Ms. Morris said. “But it also makes it all the more personally important to provide the highest level of service. With Mechanics Bank’s 100-year history of being an integral part of the East Bay community and our focus on personal service I know I’ll be able to serve them better than ever.”

Ms. Morris is deeply involved in civic and cultural activities in the East Bay, including serving as a Trustee of the Diablo Regional Arts Board. She is a current advisory board member and past vice president of the board of directors of Wardrobe for Opportunity, and also has been a member of the Business Women’s Connection of Lamorinda for the past five years. A mother of two grown children and grandmother to six, Ms. Morris and her husband Jim reside in Benicia.

“We’re delighted that a seasoned East Bay banker with deep roots here in the community will manage our new Concord office,” said Jayne Sanford, Mechanics Bank area manager. “As we continue to expand into the heart of Contra Costa County—with another office planned for Pittsburg early next year—Linda is a tremendous asset who will help us hit the ground running.”

Headquartered in Richmond, California, Mechanics Bank celebrates a century of innovative community banking this year. With almost $2.5 billion in assets, it has become one of the largest banks headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area.
